Writing texts for your website is good for the findability of your company. You want to start blogging because you know you deserve that place at the top of Google. Your mind set is top!

How do I write texts for my website that are read?

1. Write like you write to a friend

Writing texts on your website doesn’t have to be difficult. I understand it’s new. You think you have to use terms that are common in your sector. Don’t do it! You have to do just the opposite. Make your texts as easy as possible and use words that everyone understands. Your target audience wants to understand what you want to say in ‘human language’. If your reader needs to think regularly when reading your texts, he or she will quit and leave your website. Write like you write to a friend: Clearly and informally.

2. Speak to your reader

See how I write? I write with ‘you’ and not ‘you’. That’s how the message gets in better. Suppose I wrote with “you”. Yeah, which one of you am I talking to? You don’t feel directly addressed. That’s why you’re less inclined to take it seriously.

3. Write clear texts for your website

Your visitors don’t always feel like reading a full article. But those who don’t feel like it should also take all the information with them. Make your texts scannable. Write them clearly and provide intertitles. To write a text you use scannable:

Listings

Short paragraphs

Sufficient white space

4. Write a seductive title but don’t give away everything

A text always starts with a title. This title should be tempting. The title of your text should tell your reader what to expect. In addition, you add value. With this article you could expect 10 tips to write a good text for your website. Your added value? Making sure your texts are read or screened by every visitor.

5. Summary intertitles

Earlier you could read that you use rather short paragraphs. Give the paragraphs an intertitle. Are you writing in Word? Give them a Heading 2, Google likes that. Your subtitle should be a summary of your paragraph. This way your visitors know what the text is about without reading your paragraph. Do you remember? The lazy (oops) visitors who don’t want to read everything? They also need to get enough information from you.

6. Short sentences are more powerful

To write texts for your website, you don’t necessarily have to study. But as you can see, you have to pay attention to a few topics. You also have to write with short sentences. This ensures that a reader is more likely to continue reading because if you imagine that I make my sentences so long that there is almost no end to it then it is not so exciting anymore and your readers do not know when the point has been reached which makes it tiring to keep on reading.

See? Here’s what I mean. Write short sentences! And yes, that was an order. ????

7. Alternating sentences

Besides writing short sentences, you also pay attention to alternating sentences. By this I mean the length of a sentence. Look at it this way. It’s a little shorter than everything else. That way you have more overview, don’t you think? That’s what you have to achieve. Clear and certainly not boring.

8. Keep your content powerful

Yeah, tell me about it. Of course, it’s not always easy to come up with a subject. Especially when you blog every week. You have to keep inspiring your reader. You have to keep holding him. If you lose him for a moment, you can whistle at him. And that’s not the point, is it? Do not write a blog article of 800 words, if you repeat the last 400 words. Keep it powerful. Keep your reader captivated. Do you feel like you’re written out? Then stop before you start writing bullshit.

9. Minimum 400 words

A text you want to be found in Google must be at least 400 words long. They also talk about monster articles. Articles of 1000-2000 words. That’s possible. And yes, such articles go well too. But if you use the right keywords. And there’s not much competition? Believe me, 400 words will get you there. Besides, you’ll have to do it, won’t you? A monster article every week…

10.Don’t forget your goal!

You write texts to inform your reader. Also to get higher in Google. And of course to let a visitor do a certain action. Never forget your goal. Provide a call to action at the end of your article. A call to action is a button, a link or a sentence that refers to an action the reader has to perform.

Look like this:

Would you like to start blogging on your website so you can get higher up in Google? Do you have enough excuses not to do it yourself? Find out what I can do for you! (Or what not, that’s a smaller list) ????
